Explore Latvia and Eastern Europe

Daugavpils was once part of both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. It has rich and dramatic military history.

We offer extensive excursion and social program which aim at introducing students to the ethnic, historical and cultural diversity of Daugavpils, Latvia and Baltic States in the context of their historical and contemporary relations with Russia. These include short trips during working days and study trips on weekends.

Daugavpils saw Napoleon invasion, Polish uprisings, WW1 trenches, the war for independence, WW2 battles, the Holocaust, and breakout of the Soviet Union.

Latvia is in the Schengen Zone. Students can take independent, visa-free trips to Poland, Finland, Sweden, Germany, or the Czech Republic. When requested by students, we have provided multi-day study trips to Russia, Belarus, and Poland.
